Untested - Strawberries in Wine

On Laura's show where she talks about Strawberries in Orange Juice, she also mentions that fresh strawberries can be macerated in red wine. This interests me. And what would happen if I used a white wine, could it work? Inquiring minds want to know!
The first thing to establish with either type of wine is the measurement of sugar to balance the acidity of the wine and strawberries.


2 pounds strawberries
Sugar
1 cup of wine (red? White?)

1. Stem the strawberries and put them in a serving bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and pour over the juice. Cover and leave to macerate several hours or overnight before serving.
